Hoary Tory

The sad result of being in the lead in the polls for so long is that the pundits get bored with you and started getting malevolent. That’s now happening to the Tories…

Or perhaps they’re just falling apart…smarm can’t govern the cracks. However many posters they put out of Cameron, it’s not much good if there’s nothing behind the Botox.

Massive cuts? They promised them. Now we may not get them. A special tax allowance for staying married? Yes. No. Maybe. Caring Conservativism, or Thatcherism? Tell you later.

Abolish Regional Agencies, OFCOM and the FSA. A firm maybe.

Take money away from existing schools to allow cranks to set up DIY schools. Not sure.

Targets for carbon reduction? Targets will be reduced not carbon. Cut public spending and borrowing? Sure though we’re not sure how.

Perhaps it’s all a competition with prizes: write your own manifesto.
