RESPONSE FROM BILL STEADMAN PDF Print E-mail
Written by Austin Mitchell
28 July 2003

Thank you for sending to me a copy of Austin Mitchell’s statement to the N E Lincs Labour Group. What he has to say is very much in line with our own thoughts and desires. Unfortunately however, in the light of the Consultants report to what was then a Labour Council the Tenants Assembly was co-erced into agreeing to support the Councils application for inclusion on this years transfer list.

We, on the Assembly would much prefer that inclusion on the transfer list should be held in abeyance until November of this year or even next year. We are of the opinion that a much more comprehensive study of North East Lincs Housing Stock is what is required given that most of our houses already meet the decent homes standard.
However, during our discussions with the various statutory representatives, including members of the Community Housing Task Force we have detected a strong determination towards an LSVT. In consequence of this the Boroughwide Assembly will be making every effort to ensure that the fullest information is made available to all council tenants of North East Lincolnshire.

Yours Sincerely,

Bill Steadman.
Chair of the Tenants Assembly
