Clegg Dancing: Lib Dems in Panto PDF Print E-mail
Written by Austin Mitchell

Every party promised a referendum on the EU Constitution. Now we vote on it.
The Conservatives will vote for a referendum. So will the Scot and Welsh Nats, the Ulster Unionists and a sizeable number of Labour MPs who think government should fulfil its promises.

The Lib Dems won’t. They think we aren't smart enough to understand the glories of the constitution. So we can only have a referendum on "stay in or get out."

Clever stuff. If they get this vote to stay in, all the other parties are wrong-footed. The government wins the day and the Libs then say, “we gave you a referendum, even if it’s not the one you wanted.” Genius.

It might work. If you assume people are that daft.
