If you're no' a Gordon PDF Print E-mail

Another weekend’s full bombardment by the Commentariat Parris (who’s gone mad) urges us to surrender now, to give power back to those born to rule. ‘Bring Back the Toffs’. All the others trundle their own shells in.
Déjà vu. In May 1969 I presented YTV’s 1st local election programme from a small dog kennel as Labour went down to disastrous defeat. Yet, a year later, Labour moved ahead in the polls and Harold Wilson made the mistake of thinking it was strong enough to win an election. It wasn’t. But by October it would have been. So it will be with us – Harold had only one year. We’ve got two.

It wasn’t the 10p tax issue that defeated us. That was only a symptom. It showed the Government didn’t care for its own, reinforcing the feeling of the multitude who labour (MWLs) that we’ve done nowt for them.

Which is true. By comparison with what we’ve done for the rich, big business and those what haves (THWs).

A big Keynesian dollop to boost the flagging economy will allow us to out that right at the same time.
- TWH +MWL = 2010

Well done Boris. But what will he do now the bubble wrap comes off? What will emerge? New Boris? Old Boris? Probably straight jacketed Boris run by Tory minders.

Gordon’s going to listen. We’re all going to listen. But to whom?

  • Listen to cabinet and hear the prattle of pygmies. Some push Blairite remedies. Some say heads down. Some haven’t the faintest.

  • Listen to the PLP and you get a babble: back, forward, left, right.

  • Listen to the party and you get a bemused moan and cries of neglect.

  • Listen to the unions but they’ve given up macro management for mini pleas

  • Listen to the people and they’re fed up of us. They feel badly squeezed. They want to be told that we’re going to help them, but don’t really believe it.

Best of all they could listen to me. The only voice of sense.

Gordon’s performance on Sunday’s TV grillings got better as he got more human. It’s not a fight back people want, but a real person. Good stuff Gordon 7/10.

Checklist. To Do and Not to Do. That is the Question.

Don’t Dos

42 day detention. It would be rushed through if we ever need.
ID cards. Huge waste
Re-classifying cannabis
Bash the disabled

Do Dos

Increase tax allowances
Bring the Boys Back
Come to Grimsby and see the Real World

The author of this, The People’s Blog, has asked me to point out that his sensible suggestions are in no way critical of Gordon Brown.

This is no time for rebellions, leadership contests, putsches or anything else Labour isn’t capable of.

It’s a time for loyalty. Gordon’s our man. We sink or swim together. But it’s better that our synchronised swimming goes in my direction. A Gordon for Me. A Gordon for Me. If you’re no' a Gordon you’re no use to me.

And the Camerons aren’t really so braw. Whatever that means.
