Pundit consensus is that Peter Hain is dead. No second coming. That would be bad. We need Pete in Cabinet.
If it happens Peter, don’t go for quick money on boards as redundant Blairites have. Don’t sulk like Charles Kennedy sitting there like Victor Hugo on Guernsey.
Gather together the Keynesians, those who see Labour’s task as being Labour, the fed up and those who need hope. Then lead them. We need an alternative programme.
Lead us heavenly Pete lead us. Spend a couple of weeks preaching loyalty, another couple mourning. Then go for it. |
